I always doubted myself as a kid. I grew up as an underweight, socially awkward introvert with learning disabilities, and was always the smallest, skinniest, or slowest in my class. When I narrowly made it into college, I failed multiple courses and was forced to change my field of study. Shortly after this, I was also medically withdrawn from school to recover from jaw and shoulder surgeries. On top of everything else, these experiences left me physically and mentally crushed with no hope of building a successful future.
Days before reluctantly returning to college, I accidentally stumbled upon a personal development video that revealed a universal truth – pain is a signal for change and growth. I was in such a broken place that I was open to anything that would help, and the idea that my pain was a precursor to my development completely captured me. I began working on myself by first studying the mind and the body. Once I started applying this newfound information to my personal life and saw physical and mental results, I was hooked. I instantly became hungry for more knowledge, which soon blossomed into a burning obsession to better myself and to teach others how to improve their physical, mental, and emotional health like I was.
My learning quickly accelerated with the completion of my Bachelor degree in Psychology and the start of my career in recruiting, where I first developed my business coaching skills. During this time I also became a member of the speaking organization Toastmasters to hone my presentation abilities. After establishing these skills, I quit my job and began pursuing a Master of Science in Educational Psychology full time, where I studied the psychology of learning and picked up the knowledge and skills required to create and present seminars/classes. During this time I also began taking online courses to earn my life coaching certification, which led to me starting my independent life coaching practice. To further expand my coaching skills and my nutrition/health knowledge, I also began working as a wellness coach through the supplement store GNC.
After graduating from my M.S. program I starting working in human resources and began training corporate leaders. I now work as a training and development specialist, where I oversee all employee learning progressions, provide coaching and guidance to management, and create/run group trainings to all levels of leadership at my company. Fast forward eight years later and I’m still driven by the same obsession to learn and become better. I now use my combined education and experience to guide clients towards becoming the greatest version of themselves though my life coaching practice.
